Week 10 Conkers

#hi5adventurefamily

We enjoyed a weekend away staying in a log cabin in Swadlincote which is sited within the National Forest, also close to Burton Upon Trent and Conkers adventure park.

The accommodation was fantastic, Colliery Lane Lodges situated on a peaceful private site overlooking a small fishing lake with relaxing views of the surrounding country side. The lodge was very modern and luxurious with open plan living. There was a large modern kitchen that lead onto a dining table, the kitchen island separated the living space nicely. To the front of the lodge was a large decking area with a private hot tub, great fun and lovely to use anytime of the day, the boys enjoyed getting in it first thing in the morning and we liked to get in late at night and watch the stars. We would definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking to relax and unwind whilst enjoying a little bit of luxury.

We had a few days out exploring different places during our long weekend here, I want to share with you our favourite place the highlight of the weekend for us.

Conkers adventure park just a short drive away from the lodge is an award winning attraction in the heart of the national forest. Conkers is a really unique and fun place to visit that will keep the family entertained all day. There’s plenty to see and do with a great mix of indoor and outdoor activities to explore.

I would recommend trying to plan your visit when the weather is good although the rain wouldn’t ruin your experience here as there are over 80 indoor interactive exhibits in the four seasonal zones. We particularly enjoyed the Enchanted Forest play zone and the 4d cinema. The exhibits are very hands on and educational.

Outside the fun continues with plenty to explore, perfect for anyone looking for adventure. Some of our favourite activities here were the woodland walks which included a barefoot walk through water, this was a simple yet fun experience to do. We also loved the activity trails and the Conkerchoo train ride which takes you to the side of the park that has another outdoor play area and a lovely restaurant.

We had a beautiful Sunday dinner it was a generous carvery and a perfect way to finish a fantastic day. We really loved our visit to Conkers and would recommend a visit here, you won’t be disappointed and we will definitely be visiting again.
