Calella de Palafrugell

A costal fishing town found in Spain, northeastern Catalonia forming part of the beautiful Costa Brava.

Here you can expect to find plenty of natural beauty with long walks along the coastal cliff tops. There’s lots of different coves with a new beach to explore, its great visiting each one to see which one is your favourite. Ours were Port Bo, Playa El Golfet and Platja del Canadell.

Port Bo looks just like something from a post card, the beach has colourful boats sat side by side. The buildings are pretty with lots of white and blue colours and archways, its very impressive. There’s lots of gorgeous restaurants, particularly nice if you enjoy fresh sea food. Our favourite meal was tapas at the Calau, found on the corner next to the ice cream shop. The ice cream shops  are also well worth a try, some very quality ice creams with lots of flavours to choose from.

El Golfet is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from Port Bo and when you get there you then have to walk down a lot of steps. I think it’s worth the effort though, as your rewarded with some amazing views, so much natural beauty. It’s the only un spoilt natural beach remaining on the Costa Brava so you won’t find any shops here just pure relaxation. So, if you visit remember to take drinks and anything else you might need.

The Platja del Canadell is a larger beach but still very picturesque, where ever you stand on this beach you will have a fantastic view. We loved the large timber arched doors on the beach front all different colours it gave the place a unique look.

if the beach isn’t your thing there are plenty of great places along the coast where you can go snorkeling, you don’t have to go far out at all to see different types of fish amongst the reef. It’s a great experience and our kids loved it.

Calella de Palafrugel is a beautiful little town, very relaxing and luxurious, it’s very popular with Spanish people on their holidays. It’s a great place to visit if you are interested in experiencing some authentic Spanish culture. Fresh Mediterranean Sea food, tapas and sangria by the sea with amazing views.
